Kids, ages 4 to 15
Your child walks taller after every session
They learn to defend themselves, focus when it matters and believe they belong.
“2nd lesson now and really enjoying it, staff are very friendly and happy to help if you have any questions.”

What it is
What is Jiu-Jitsu for kids?
Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling martial art. It teaches you how to protect yourself, stay calm under pressure and carry yourself with control.
For kids, that means something simple. They learn they do not need to be the biggest or the loudest to feel safe.
Three age bands
Find your child's class
Each band trains on its own, at its own pace, with a coach who works with that age every week.
-
4 to 6 years
Tiny Champions
Their first step without you, taught through games and play.
-
7 to 11 years
Juniors
Real technique in a structured hour, and the confidence it builds.
-
12 to 15 years
Teens
A class of their own, away from the little ones and the adults.
Ages 4 to 6
Tiny Champions
Your child learns the movement basics the whole sport is built on, through games and play they actually enjoy. Older students use the same skills every session; yours gets a head start.
Four to six year olds are not doing the same thing as older kids. Think animal walks, obstacle courses and simple drills.
Your child does not need to listen perfectly or follow every instruction first time. They just need to show up. Our coaches know that wiggly, distracted and silly is normal.
Ages 7 to 11
Juniors
The main kids class, and the one most children start in. Real technique taught in a structured hour, with the discipline and the confidence that come with it.
Your child is doing great. Nothing needs fixing. You just want to give them something that builds real skills they will not get in a classroom or on a football pitch.
Jiu-Jitsu teaches them to stay calm when things get hard, think through problems and keep going when something does not click straight away.
Ages 12 to 15
Teens
A class of their own, away from both the little ones and the adults. Teens train properly here and are treated accordingly.
Your teenager learns how to protect themselves, stay calm under pressure and carry themselves with control.
Everyone in the room has had a first session too. They will be paired with someone friendly and shown everything step by step. Most teens say the nerves are gone before the session ends.
Why parents start
Why kids start Jiu-Jitsu
Most parents do not walk in because everything is going well. Something is not working and they are looking for a change.
-
-
Hanging back
Other kids run in. Yours watches from the side. They are not unfriendly. They just cannot take that first step on their own.
-
All go, no focus
Energy for ten kids, focus for none. Teachers mention it every report and nothing you have tried has stuck.
-
An easy target
You want them to be able to look after themselves. Not to start fights. Just to not be the easy option.
-
The daily battle
You ask three times. Homework turns into a standoff. You are not after a robot. Just someone who can hear it and do it.
What parents notice
What changes, by age
This is not just another after-school activity. Here is what parents notice within the first few weeks.
Ages 4 to 6
Ready for bed
An hour of running, rolling, climbing and playing. They burn it off the way kids are meant to. No more bouncing off the walls at bedtime.
Start to listen
On the mat, the coach gives one instruction at a time. Watch. Copy. Try. Parents tell us the listening starts showing up at home too.
Braver every week
First week they sit on your lap. Third week they are on the mat. By month two they walk in on their own. Small steps, big changes.
Ages 7 to 11
Believe in themselves
The first time your child gets a technique right, you will see it on their face. They walk into rooms without looking back for you.
Learn to focus
On the mat, your child has to watch, listen and then do. No screen. No skipping to the next thing. Parents tell us the focus starts showing up at home and school.
Look after themselves
Your child learns to stay calm under pressure, protect themselves and get out of a bad situation safely. They are not learning to fight. They are learning they do not need to be afraid.
Ages 12 to 15
A workout in disguise
They will be too busy learning and problem solving to notice how hard they are working. They get fit without it ever feeling like PE.
Carry themselves differently
You will notice it before they do. Shoulders back. Eye contact. Walking into a room like they belong there. Something shifts and it is not just physical.
Held to a standard
They train with the same group every week. People who work hard, show respect and expect the same back. It stops being a session and starts being their team.
The quiet ones
What if my child is too shy to start?
The shy ones almost always do better than you would expect. They do not need to be loud to take part.
Some kids need a few minutes on the side first. Most parents say it takes two or three sessions before their child starts looking forward to it.
We hear these every week
Worried about starting?
-
What about fighting?
It is taught as control, not aggression. Most parents notice a calmer child, not a louder one.
-
Will they get hurt?
Coaches set the pace, techniques are taught step by step, and partners are matched by size.
-
They will be the new kid
New children join every week, and the ones already there remember being new themselves.
-
They will fall behind
The belt system means every child works at their own level, so nobody is behind anybody.
-
They hate making mistakes
Coaches praise effort, not perfection. Children learn that mistakes are how the thing is learnt.
-
They will not stick with it
Some do not. Most change their mind the week they earn a stripe and find a partner they like.
Great place for kids to learn BJJ in a friendly and safe environment. Our 8 year old daughter was nervous before starting but loves it! Good mixture of ages and boys/girls. Excellent instruction.

Common questions from parents
What should they wear?
We provide the full uniform for the session, so there is nothing to buy before you arrive.
My child has additional needs. Is that okay?
Yes, and we mean that genuinely. We work with a lot of children who have extra needs, and before your child steps on the mat we will sit down with you to understand what works best for them.
Will they be paired with much bigger or older children?
We match children by age and size as a rule.
Occasionally, they will work with someone a little different, which is actually useful for learning real self-defence, but a coach is always watching and will step in if anything feels off.
Can I stay and watch?
Yes. We have a comfortable seating area for parents, so you can settle in and watch your child on the mat. Most parents end up looking forward to it as much as the kids do.
What if they just sit and watch the whole time?
Completely normal, and we never pressure children to join in before they are ready.
In our experience, once they see the other kids laughing and moving around, curiosity takes over and they want to be part of it. We just let it happen naturally.
What about toilet breaks?
We build regular toilet and water breaks into every session. If your child needs to leave the mat at any point outside of that, it is absolutely fine.
Our coaches keep a close eye on the group and will always let you know if your child needs you.
There is a free session with your name on it.
Walking in the first time is the hard part. Tell us you are coming and we will handle the rest.
